 The Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology

The Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology (GUIST) had been established in Gauhati University campus in the year 2009 to enhance the quality and innovation in Science and Technology education in the North East region.

Presently there is a four-year B.Tech. programme in the following branches along with two years of M. Tech. programme:

  • Bio Engineering and Technology (BET)
  • Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
  • Information Technology (IT)

Courses of the B. Tech. Programmes are taught within credit-based semester system governed by the regulations of the semester system and choice-based credit system as followed at the University. For the B.Tech. Programmes, students required to follow common courses on the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Computational Skills, Communications, Workshops and Laboratory work during the first year and humanities, science and management courses during the other semesters of the programme along with the departmental courses.
